Thank you to The Raleigh Chronicle for putting this together. http://www.raleighchannel.com/RTPTVireland.wmv When I was young there was always people coming to the house. My own mother was, and still is a great singer. My father would get out the accordion and away you go, it's a party. So no matter what else was going on in life. The bad times never felt that bad, with music going on. For the most part I love the up beat traditional Irish music. I love to see people having a good time, and hear laughter ringing out in the air. It's a powerful feeling. And when I moved to America I missed that a great deal. So if you can't be at home, take a bit of it with you wherever you go. There are over 70 million Americans that claim Irish Heritage so I figured that some of them would love to revamp some of the old traditions of Ireland I lived in Michigan when I came over to American first and got some good things going there. I started The Rockford Michigan Irish Festival and it is still going strong. Plus I hosted an Irish radio show at WBYW 89.9 for just over five years. It was all a tremendous experience and I & still remain touch with many of my close friends there. & I still miss the ones I loved and had to leave. Now I have made my home in NC, and found a great wealth of talent. Irisheventsnc was set up to promote our heritage and culture. If you would like to contact us or be a part of some of the great events we plan in NC please send me an email. I have also started a Celtic Culture/music meet-up group so as we can have social evenings with friends who share our interest. Log onto www.meet-up.com and sign up for it. In 2008 It is my intention to bring a small tour of musicians and friends to The Armagh Pipers festival Armagh City Ireland. And take in Beautiful South Armagh and The ring of Gullion. mythicalireland AT eircom DOT net We will also visit The Giants causeway on the Antrim coastline and take in a tour of Bushmills Irish Whiskey. www.discovernorthernireland.com If that trip interests you, please let me know. Annienice777@yahoo.com Presently I am the General Manager of Raleigh's First and MOST exciting Irish pub TIR NA NOG. Where we pride ourselves on being Irish all year round. Tir Na Nog is much more than just a pub. We have turned it into cultural Center a Home for musicians & dancers. A place of learning, growing, and sharing. Plus great enjoyment. I feel I have found my spot now. A place I call home, away from home. And we proudly display The Armagh football jersey in a glass case for all to see. I like to think that we make each person that walks through the doors of the pub Welcome and to feel like very welcome guest. Tir Na nog has a great stage to showcase all the talented musicians. Plus we have started Traditional Irish music class's, in the cottage on Monday nights at 7pm. Plus the teaching session on Sundays at 3 until 4pm. And then an all out session that both learners and ole hands can have a go at. So as a firm believer in keeping tradition alive and passing it on. I would like to dedicate this to my own wee generation of Celts, my three best friends and supporters, my children Andrew, Christopher, & Roxanne. They are part of the next generation of Celts. May they grow strong and in abundance and be gifted with great talents to pass along.
